Finding a flat in Santiago

To find a flat is one of the first thing that you have to do when you arrived in a new country. With my friend we decided to come directcly in order to do that. We didn’t wanted to order it online because we were afraid that the flat will not be good for us. We took an airbnb for one week to stay in Santiago.

To look for a nice appartment you will need some adress of great agency or website that can gives you contacts. Lucky for you I got the best website where the majority of the offers are. His name … COMPTODEPTO ( https://www.compartodepto.cl ).

• First you have to create an account and tell what are you looking for. I advice you to be large in your attents to not miss a good surprise.
• Then you can look their map with all the offers (witch is a lot)
• You will also receive a lot of message from owners who want to rent their appartment. Look at them very closely and follow your intuition.

Do as many visit as you can! The first advice that I can give you is to visit  before giving any confirmation. In fact lot of place want you to be engage for the entire semester so you have to pick the best. During the visit don’t be afraid to ask your questions even if you don’t speak very well. Take your time and look closely to every appartments.

You will see every kind of places so you have to think at what you really want!

MY PERSONAL ADVICES :

1.  The best place to live in Santiago is Providencia. This nice « barrio » allow you to go wherever you want quickly. It have everything you need to live like supermarket, restaurants ect.. There is also lots of beautiful parks.
2. Living with other foreigner student is really nice. It help you with the learnig of the language and permites you to meet other people. It’s great to have people to do things and it can help you if you have problems.
3. Don’t go with french people. Your in an other country and this is nice to meet people from all over the world.
4. Find a nice room. It’s important to feel good in your room. You’ll need to have privacy and a nice bed!

PRICES :

Like i’ve said before, there is a lot of different offers in santiago. But you need to know that the prices are quite expensive, specially for student who came only for 6 month. The prices goes from 245 000 cp witch represent 330euros to 400 000 cp witch is 540e.

I personnaly live in a really nice house in Providencia and it cost me 270 000 cp /month.
